Donald William Miler was born May 25, 1938, to Franklyn Lewis Miler and Ava Itah Harris Miler. He had a brother, John Arthur Miler, and two sisters, Mildred Pettit Brannon and Louise Miler Thompson. He passed away Dec. 31, 2017, at the age of 79.
Donald is survived by sister Louise Thompson; sister-in-law Deloris Miler; nieces and nephews, Mary Britt, Norman (Butch) Brannon (Lita), Donald Thompson (Debbie), Carol Scott, Rhonda Earls (Tom), Sharon Cole (Tom), Joyce Steinbach (David) and Johnny Miler; lifelong friend Russell Woods; many great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother John Miler; sister Mildred Brannon; brothers-in-law, Wayne Thompson and Marion (Bud) Brannon; sister-in-law Delphine Miler; nephews, Terry Thompson and Danny Black and great-nephew Mike Brannon.
Affectionately known as “Zeke” or “Donnie” by friends and family, Don spent most of his life and attended school in Osceola. After serving in the Army in the early 1960s, he moved to Washington state for a short time. Returning to Osceola, he worked at Sargent’s Rock Quarry, Miller Products, Firestone in Des Moines, and retired from the city of Osceola.
Don had a passion for fishing, and enjoyed many fishing trips in Canada. Don enjoyed hunting, reading, Western movies, bowling, playing pool and junking.
Zeke was a gentle soul with a kind heart and a bright smile. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all.
An open house memorial service will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Eagles in Osceola. Food and drinks will be provided.
