Joshua Allan Crawford, 28, of Des Moines was issued a citation for failure to maintain control after an accident 6:16 p.m. Jan. 10 on Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Crawford, driving a 2004 Honda was driving too fast to control his vehicle on the Clarke/Decatur line and was unable to stop at the Highway 69 intersection. Crawford slid through the intersection and into the west ditch.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Crawford’s vehicle.

Vriana Maria Silva, 33, of Corydon, was issued a citation for driving under suspension after an accident 6:55 a.m. Jan. 11 on Interstate 35.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Silva, driving a 1998 Dodge truck north on Interstate 35 lost control on an icy patch and entered the east ditch, crossed over 220th Avenue, struck a fence belonging to Marlin Wray Eddy, went airborne and landed in a pool of water. The bed of the truck was submerged in icy water, Silva was able to exit the vehicle.

Estimated damage was $500 to Eddy’s fence and $5,000 to Silva’s vehicle.

No citations were after an accident 7 a.m. Jan. 14 on Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Cody Allen Dohrn, 27, of Van Wert, driving a 2003 Lincoln was traveling on Highway 69 when he left the roadway on the east side of the road, causing damage to the front driver side of the vehicle. Dohrn told Deputies he did not know what happened and he though the airbag knocked him out. Dohrn left the scene and returned to his residence in Leon. The property owner of where the vehicle landed contacted the Sheriff’s office and Deputies talked with Dohrn at his residence.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Dohrn’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 1:40 p.m. Jan. 14 on Highway 34.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Gary Lee Parson, 64, of Woodburn, driving a 2007 Ford truck was traveling west on Highway 34 when a deer struck the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

Estimated damage was $1,200 to Parson’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident that was reported at 8 a.m. Jan. 15 on the 2800 block of Wyoming St.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Jeremiah Ely Brown, 38, of New Virginia, driving a 1998 Dodge truck lost control on the ice and snow covered road and entered the north ditch. Brown’s vehicle struck a utility pole which broke at the base. The accident happened sometime over night on Jan. 14, Brown did not report the accident until 8 a.m. the next morning.

Estimated damage was $1,000 to the utility pole and $5,000 to Brown’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 9:35 a.m. Jan. 16 on the 1300 block of Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Michelle Ann Buchanan, 22, of Osceola, driving a 2000 Pontiac lost traction on the slick road while doing into a slight curve. The vehicle struck a sign while leaving the roadway and went through a fence owned by William Sandquist.

Estimated damage was $100 to the sign, $100 to the Sanquist’s fence and $4,500 to Buchanan’s vehicle.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Bradley Daryl Smith, 49, of Coralville, driving a 2008 Toyota swerved to avoid a deer and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went into the median, struck the cable barrier and damaged 7 posts.

Estimated damage was $4,000 to the cable barrier and $3,500 to Smith’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 2:05 a.m. Jan. 20 on the 1100 block of Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Michael Doyle Luse, 65, of Lacona, driving a 2007 Ford was unable to safely avoid a deer in the roadway.

Estimated damage was $5,000 to Luse’s vehicle.

Randy Duane Dunbar, 67, of Osceola was issued a citation for failure to yield upon entering highway after an accident at 7:44 p.m. Jan. 20 at the intersection of Garden Street and Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Todd Bruce Degroot, 52, of Davis City, driving a 1996 Nissan south on Highway 69 struck Dunbar, driving a 1996 GMC truck, after Dunbar turned on Highway 69 from Garden Street. Dunbar told officers he did not see a vehicle coming from the south when he began to turn.

Degroot and his passenger, Misty Dawn Degroot, 32, of Davis City, were transported to Clarke County Hospital.

Estimated damage was $8,000 to Degroot’s vehicle and $5,000 to Dunbar’s vehicle.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Kurt Friedrich Stegelmann, 30, of Indiana, driving a 2017 Dodge was unable to avoid a deer in the roadway.

Estimated damage was $1,200 to Stegelmann’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 6:40 p.m. Jan. 25 on Pacific Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Jonathan Paul Spencer, 17, of Indianola, driving a 2003 Ford truck lost control of his vehicle while taking a curve on Pacific Street. The vehicle went off the road and rolled several times, coming to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle.

The passenger in the vehicle, Katelynn Grace VanGundy, 19, of Osceola was transported to Clarke County Hospital.

Estimated damage was $8,000 to Spencer’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8 a.m. Jan. 27 on Mormon Trail.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Forrest David Young, 31, of Adel, driving a 2009 Chevy truck was stopped on Mormon Trail as deer were crossing the roadway. Aaron Michael Jones-Neely, 23, of Afton, driving a 2012 Ford truck was following Young but couldn’t see that Young’s vehicle was stopped due to the sun. Jones-Neely struck the rear of Young’s vehicle.

Estimated damage was $8,000 to Young’s vehicle and $8,000 to Jones-Neely’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 1:35 p.m. Jan. 30 at The Eagles Lodge.

According to an Osceola Police report, Daniel Jay Pearcy, 49, of Osceola driving a 2012 Chevy was preparing to back out of his parking spot when Richard Armand Gunderson, 81, of Osceola, driving a 2016 Toyota pulled up behind Pearcy’s vehicle. Gunderson told officers he had pulled up to the door to let his wife carry something into the building, when Pearcy had gotten in his vehicle there was no one behind him and he hadn’t seen Gunderson pull up to the building.

Estimated damage was $2,000 to Gunderson’s vehicle and $500 to Pearcy’s vehicle.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:20 a.m. Feb. 1 at an intersection of two alleys.

According to an Osceola Police report, Noe Garcia Arevalo, 29, of Osceola, driving a 2013 Chevy was westbound in an alley between Jefferson Street and Cass Street when he collided with Kimberly Kay Bethards, 48, of Osceola, driving a 2013 Ford in an alley southbound between Kossuth Street and Adams Street. The vehicles collided at the intersection of the two alleys, there was a garage on the northeast corner that obscured the vision of both drivers.

Estimated damage was $4,000 to Arevalo’s vehicle and $3,000 to Bethard’s vehicle.
